Experimental and Theoretical Validation of One Diode and Three Parameters–Based PV Models

The present paper defines and assesses a new simplified method to represent the photovoltaic (PV) modules’ electrical behavior, based on commonly used one diode three parameters (1D + 3P) model, addressing two main objectives. first is quantify assess, at different operating conditions, PV modules behavior estimations’ accuracy provided by well-known 1D 3P, through comparison experimental theoretical results. second concerns performance assessment of 3P model’s suggested approximation, aiming simplifying mathematics instead solving complex iterative equations, which hinges higher computational time obtain accurate Hence, data were considered, performing thorough with more than 17,000 being assessed, was achieved using both California Energy Commission (CEC) database PVsyst software. findings show that already known model delivers satisfactory power output estimations for crystalline silicon high irradiance conditions. However, its worsens when considering Low Irradiance thin-film technology. In original results obtained all conditions technologies thus proving validity capability circumventing aforementioned challenges.
